Cloud9 have formally announced changes to their Overwatch roster. The new roster will feature a few new players with ambitions to make it into the top teams in the world.

With BlizzCon fast approaching, we at Cloud9 would like to formally and officially introduce our updated C9OW starting roster! Moving forward, Greg “Grego” McAllen, Derrick “reaver” Nowicki, and Kevin “deBett” deBettencourt have been benched. Greg, Derrick, and Kevin are spending their time this off-season to discuss what their plans will be moving forward. Anyone interested in working with them should feel free to contact us at Cloud9 for more details.

First, we’re excited to introduce Lucas “Mendokusaii” Håkansson as the new starting DPS player. Formerly of SK Gaming, IDDQD, and FaZe, Mendokusaii is a veteran competitive player recognized with a high level of mechanical skill. He plays a wide range of heroes at a top level, including but not limiting to all meta DPS characters.

Next, we’d like to welcome Ruben “ryb” Ljungdahl to the starting Tank position. Formerly of Misfits, ryb’s most notable accomplishment is claiming victory at the ELEAGUE Overwatch Open, where he and his teammates defeated top-ranked EnVyUs to walk away with a $100,000 grand prize. He’s recognized as an elite Tank player, with a preference for Reinhardt and Winston.

Finally, stepping into the starting Support role is former Method player Randal “Roolf” Stark. After an impressive underdog performance at the ELEAGUE Overwatch Open, Roolf proved himself a top competitor, displaying a particular knack for Zenyatta at the highest tier of play.

“Overwatch has been a passion for us since day one. We’ve spent countless hours to stay at the top of the competitive scene from beta and beyond since the game’s competitive scene inception. Today’s changes are another step towards maintaining and elevating the success we’ve seen since first acquiring the Google Me roster.”

— Danan Flander, Cloud9 General Manager

Please help us in welcoming Roolf, ryb, and Mendokusaii to the C9OW starting roster! Due to  BlizzCon, the Overwatch competitive season is currently on a hiatus, but you can still catch Roolf, Adam, and Surefour throughout the next week as they participate in the Overwatch World Cup!
