Giants vs. Origen – EU LCS – Week 9 – Day 1 – Preview

Giants vs. Origen are matched up against each other for the European League of Legends Series to be held Thursday, March 17, 2016 – Week 9 – Day 1

Smittyj : SoaZ

Wisdom : Amazing

xPePii : xPeke

Hustlin : Mithy

Giants have had many roster swaps with only xPePii on the team at the start of the split. Desperately chasing higher seeding in the promotion tournament, the Giants need every win they can get to climb out of 10th place in order to give themselves a better chance at staying in the LCS. Whether or not Hustlin can make a big enough impact remains to be seen, but with only a week’s worth of practise, it is unlikely that the team will have perfect synergy. However, Hustlin played on a Spanish team who finished second at ESL Masters in Spain, so he is as a high standard of play.

Origen went 2-0 last week, tying them in 4th place, along with Fnatic and UOL. They looked weak in the early game as usual, but solidified in the mid-late game with xPeke’s shotcalling leading the way, which was previously absent. They looked more like the team that made it to World’s semi final last year, and that will help their confidence going into the last week of LCS.

I expect that Origen will win this game, placing pressure the teams around them to step up, or lose their playoff seedings. Giants could cause an upset if they can grab an early lead, perhaps from a different champion pick, or a surprise invade early on, and snowball from there.

Chance of victory: Giants: 30% : Origen: 70%
