SKTelecom T1 vs. Jin Air Green Wings – LCK 2016 – Week 10 – Day 1 Preview
The matchup between CJ ENTUS vs. Jin Air Green Wings in Week 10, Day 1 of LOL LCK will take place on Wednesday, 16th of March 2016
This week we welcome back our winners of IEM Katowice; SKTelecom T1. However, despite their easy victories over the international teams, SKT have yet to overcome their underlying problems against the Korean teams. Last week’s game against the Afreeca Freecs was incredibly close; SKT were barely able to take the 2-1 series, with underwhelming performances from our superstar Faker and Duke.
On the other hand, Jin Air continue to prove themselves as a top tier Korean team. Especially after a crushing (2-0) victory over KT Rolster last week. Jin Air excelled in macro gameplay, getting numerous clean picks with Kuzan’s Azir and Chei’s Alistar. This style of clean and controlled team fighting allowed them to take an easy victory of KT.
As a team, Jin Air are relatively reactive and conservative. The team’s gains are made from their side of the map-based riskier plays made by the enemy. This is a similar play style to SKT, who are also conservative and paced. The turning point of this matchup will be how teams execute the early laning phase, and whether or not teams decide to lane swap and create diving options in the outer turrets. A key to winning this matchup is how and when turrets are taken. The team that can take out the outer ring of turrets effectively will be able translate that objective into more map pressure.
As a whole, Jin Air are without a doubt a bit better than SKT at the moment, with heavily underrated top and mid laners. They are one of the most methodical teams in the LCK, focusing on slowly scaling into the late-game, frequently using baron buffs and dragon stacks to secure victory. I look forward to Jin Air’s late game team fights against SKT as well as Kuzan and Pilot stepping up to carry their team.
Prediction: SKTelecom T1 45% | Jin Air Green Wings 55%
Outcome: Jin Air victory (2-1)
Afreeca Freecs vs. Kongdoo Monster – LCK 2016 – Week 10 – Day 1 – Preview
The matchup between Afreeca Freecs vs. Kongdoo Monster in Week 10, Day 1 of LOL LCK will take place on Wednesday, 16th of March 2016
At the (almost) very bottom of the LCK ladder, with only a few weeks left of the spring split, the Kongdoo Monsters’ just have to keep trying and trying and then try some more.
While Kingdoo have been able to make some decent plays during their split, they fail to account for what happens after their gains. Something like a first blood gank during their game against Longzhu was quickly turned on its head after they failed to foresee the consequences of burning all their summoners and overextending. Being so deep into this split, it is all to late for Kongdoo to improve on their gameplay. Their only option left is to yolo.
Overall, Afreeca Freecs are just a step ahead of Kongdoo. A team with better decision making and stronger players. While Kongdoo see no hope of making any improvement or movement in the ladder this split, Afreeca are definitely trying their hardest to finish the season strongly.
Predictions: Afreeca Freecs 65% | Kongdoo Monster 35%
Outcome: Afreeca Freecs Victory (2-0)
Longzhu Gaming vs. CJ Entus – LCK 2016 – Week 10 – Day 2 – Preview
The matchup between Longzhu Gaming vs. CJ Entus in Week 10, Day 2 of LOL LCK will take place on Thursday, 17th of March 2016.
I feel like I’m repeating myself when it comes to CJ Entus. Because it’s all about their ADC, Kramer. He is an absolute monster, representing about a third of his team’s damage and a quarter of his team’s total gold. I cannot see CJ winning a game without Kramer smashing out some big numbers.
Longzhu are a little all over the place. They give away easy kills, yet some laners get solo kills. They do some really random groupings with support and jungle with really high risk/reward outcomes. As a whole, their team comes together quite nicely if they are able to overcome early game risks.
In this CJ vs Longzhu matchup, Longzhu needs to shut down Kramer. If they ignore Kramer, he will get a pentakill. Not even joking, that’s how much of a high threat target he is. That being said, Longzhu do have a lot going for them this match up, as all their laners are very talented and reliable.
CJ will need to have a team composition built around Kramer, with a beefy frontline and lots of CC. A team composition with a tanky top laner such as Nautilius, Trundle or Poppy with a control mage mid such as Lissandra, Oriana or Lux would be very favorable for them. All in all, this is a very close match up and it’s anyone’s game.
Prediction: Longzhu 50% | CJ Entus 50%
Outcome: CJ Entus (2-1)
SBENU SONICBOOM vs. KT Rolster – LCK 2016 – Week 10 – Day 2 – Preview
The matchup between SBENU SONICBOOM vs. KT Rolster in Week 10, Day 2 of LOL LCK will take place on Thursday, 17th of March 2016
There are so many different ways to lose in League of Legends. You could lose the early game and surrender at 20, you might be slowly losing throughout the entire game, you might throw at a baron or dragon, a lane might feed like there’s no tomorrow or you might win one game to only lose the rest in a best of three. Well for SBENU SONICBOOM, they’ve lost in every way possible and this match up is no different. No matter what happens, they’ll lose and turn into a dank meme.
There is no feasible explanation as to why KT Rolster could lose this match up. As one of the more paced and controlled teams of the LCK, I firmly believe that any small lead SBENU can salvage in the early game cannot be sustained. KT will simply outplay the macro game; out rotate, group better, tower dive more convincingly and so forth.
Prediction: SBENU SONICBOOM 0% | KT Rolster 100%
Outcome: KT Rolster (2-0)
SKTelecom T1 vs. ROX Tigers – LCK 2016 – Week 10 – Day 3 – Preview
The matchup between SKTelecom T1 vs. ROX Tigers in Week 10, Day 3 of LOL LCK will take place on Friday 18th of March 2016
We were the greatest team in the world vs. we are the greatest team in the world.
It is without a doubt that the Tigers are going to be the more proactive team in this matchup. They will be the ones initiating tower dives, starting dragon, and pulling players into one location to execute a clean cut fight. ROX has no super stars in their line up nor do they have hyper carries that can single-handedly carry the whole team. This isn’t because they’re a weak team, but because they work in unity, with every single laner being a significant threat. Their first bloods are created by jungle and support synergy, their damage dealt is evenly split between their top, mid and ADC and have consistently created gold leads just through the laning phase. They are a team that needs to be respected and feared.
SKT have just come out as the victors of an easy international tournament. They are without a doubt a very strong team, and definitely deserve better than the sixth place spot they are at the moment. Unlike ROX, SKT have a greater reliance on Faker and Bang to carry the team. I believe that ROX will take an early game gold lead against SKT solely based on the way they’ve been able create a lead through perfect wave manipulation and laning.
The mid game will undoubtedly be very explosive and packed with team fights. Both teams are some of the strongest 5v5 fighting teams in the world. The spotlight is on Faker and Bang to carry.
As a whole, if ROX creates an early game lead, there will be very little to no chance of SKT making a come back. However, if the game is quite even, it is very difficult to tell who will come out on top.
Prediction: SKTelecom T1 45% | ROX 55%
Outcome: ROX (2-1)
Samsung Galaxy vs. Afreeca Freecs – LCK 2016 – Week 10 – Day 3 – Preview
The matchup between Samsung Galaxy vs. Afreeca Freecsin Week 10, Day 3 of LOL LCK will take place on Friday 18th of March 2016
When it comes to these mid-tier Korean teams, its all about getting their mid and ADC rolling. Getting these two positions fed and protecting them early and during team fights is a vital ingredient to winning games. As for the rest of the team their job is to provide vision, peel and CC key targets.
Both Samsung Galaxy and Afreeca Freecs are lost in the pack, too strong against the lower tier teams but not quite there when it comes to versing the top tier teams. I suspect Afreeca have the better individual players, especially with the way they played against SKT. They’ve definitely shown a lot of improvement this season, and I believe that the growth of this team will translate to a win against the veteran Samsung squad.
Prediction: Samsung Galaxy 50% | Afreeca Freecs 50%
Outcome: Afreeca Freecs (2-1)
CJ ENTUS vs. Jin Air Green Wings – LCK 2016 – Week 10 – Day 4 – Preview
The matchup between CJ ENTUS vs. Jin Air Green Wings in Week 10, Day 4 of LOL LCK will take place on Saturday, 19th of March 2016
A personal analogy of a friend: ‘you guys are just fodder, to soak up all the damage and CC before I make the super star plays’. An individual so good, that the rest of the team was just punching bags. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?
That’s right, I’m talking about Kramer again. Especially when it comes to versing top tier teams, CJ needs a strong safe early game to translate into a strong ADC and controlled teamfights. However, its easier said than done. Jin Air should have all the necessary ingredients to win this game. It is very rare to see them come out of the laning phase in an unfavourable position; they can translate an even match up into very dominant team fights and swiftly take the victory.
This game aside, CJ really need to work on improving as a team rather than relying on one individual. We have seen many teams fail because their members were lacklustre and not on the same page as another individual of the team. Teams like TSM, SKT and AHQ, just to name a few, have players that must perform well to win. While these teams are dominant within their regions, they have had significant struggles in the past, or in the international scene. CJ must find it within themselves to change their current identity, or make roster changes for more carry orientated mid and top.
Prediction: CJ Entus 30% | Jin Air 70%
Kongdoo Monster vs. SBENU SONICBOOM – LCK 2016 – Week 10 – Day 4 – Preview
The matchup between Kongdoo Monster vs. SBENU SONICBOOM in Week 10, Day 4 of LOL LCK will take place on Saturday, 19th of March 2016
Oh boy, this is going to be messy. The last time these two teams faced off, Kongdoo Monster were still operating under Najin sponsorship (E-mFire). It was also one of the only games that Kongdoo managed to pick up this season.
The score was (1-1), Kongdoo was in control and trying to push their win condition by securing more objectives and using baron to take control of the map. But for the struggling SBENU, it was one of those games where even though you’re losing, you’ve managed to drag the game out for so long that the gold deficit doesn’t matter anymore. And even though they had managed to hold their ground and come out even or on top of some late 50 minute skirmishers, they had no map pressure, no towers or inhibitors to consolidate their lead into something meaningful. And all it took was an xPeke to swiftly end their dreams of winning a game. Lol rekt.
I expect this match-up to be no different than their encounter three months ago. Junglers are going to be able to walk into over-extended lanes and pick up free kills. Fights are going to be sloppy. And anyone can become the hero of this game.
Prediction: Kongdoo Monsters 60% | SBENU SONICBOOM 40%
Outcome: Kongdoo Monsters (2-0)
