Misfits Academy has rightfully won their EU LCS promotion, but are forced to sell it

Misfits Academy won the EU LCS promotion rights from an amazing 3-2 series against the Fnatic Academy to prove the misfits sister team were superior to the sister team of Fnatic. Misfits truly earned their right as the victors, while they placed fourth in the 2017 EU CS Spring Season with a 1-2-2 record, they managed to completely obliterate FC Schalke 04 in the 2017 EU CS Spring Playoffs 3-1. By doing so, Misfits gained a ton of hype and self confidence which allows them to take out one of the best, if not the best CS team in 2016, Fnatic Academy.
However, Misfits Academy while able to take home the prize were forced to sell the placement immediately. This is due to the special clause in the EU LCS which prevents two sister teams from attending the EU LCS or EU CS together. This is because placing against each other pose a conflict of interest, or may also result in match fixing as the parent company is the same. It has yet to be announced which team will buy the spot, but the one thing that is certain is that they will be unable to utilise the position.
It is possible for the academy team to break away from the Misfits organisation to promote to a new EU LCS team, but a cancelation of contracts would lead to great financial burdens on the player. Unlike FlyQuest that broke away from C9, players in misfits academy haven’t been that close to the organisation, so this is extremely unlikely.
