Following the new crowd funding of the worlds championships, the prize pool distribution has shifted
The 2016 League of Legends World Championships prize pool has just reached over $4 million US dollars. Check out our coverage of the increase Here.
Riot revealed that due to the prize pool changes due to the sale of “Championship Zed” and “Championship ward” skins where 25% of the revenue is added to the total prize pool, the prize pool distributions would too have to change.
The new prize pool distribution will be :
- 1st place: 40%
- 2nd place: 15%
- 3rd/4th place: 7.5% (15% total)
- 5th-8th place: 4% (16% total)
- 9th-12th place: 2.25% (9% total)
- 13th-16th place: 1.25% (5% total)
The current 4 million prize pool is expected to rise as the World Championships continue.
