SK Telecom T1 vs. kt Rolster are matched up against each other for the League of Legends Champion Korea to be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 – Day 2 Week 5.
World champions SK Telecom T1 have yet to show us the magnitude of play they have been known for for the past two years. Despite retaining eighty percent of their championship winning team, SKT have struggled to maintain consistency with their new top laner, Duke. Duke has shown poor play around teleport, a key strategy in the current meta, and it was visibly obvious during their game against e-mFire. They attained TP advantage many times, however were unable to successfully pull off TP flanks on a consistent basis, especially compared to teams such as the ROX Tigers. However, the blame cannot be entirely assigned to Duke, as he has proven himself as top tier player on Najin and previously with the KT Bullets in their performance at IEM as Leopard. Rather, it can be speculated that there is a shot-calling issue within the team. Despite this, SKT looked very good in their series against ROX Tigers, although losing the game. SKT right now are slightly inconsistent, but with the proven skill of their roster, they should have no problems in fixing their problems for the future.
kt Rolster has had quite a good run in the LCK, currently only losing out to the ROX Tigers. Although they lost star support player Piccaboo during the off-season, who in many ways the team revolved around, kt Rolster have kept much of their warding and rotating ability they were previously known for. Score has been performing well, and has adapted to strong picks such as Kindred and Graves, as has top laner Ssumday. Hachani still makes some of the mistakes he has been known for; face-checking and over-agressing. However, kt Rolster are playing steadily and have proven themselves to be the number two team in Korea.
Definitely the game to watch this week, two of the top teams face each other in what should be a skilled matchup. Should Ssumday overpower Duke in the top lane, SKT will find difficulty in utilising their new player, however as always Faker and Bang have the potential to carry the whole game.
Predictions : SKT Telecom T1 40% l kt Rolster 60%
