SMITE World Championships Day 1 Tips, Odds and Preview – 2016

Epsilon Esports vs Isurus Gaming

Epsilon is regarded as one of the top teams in the world, with experts predicting them making it all the way to finals. This is definitely not a match up that Isurus would have liked, however, facing one of the best teams first means that even if Isurus lose, they can review and improve from the game’s replay.

For Isurus to win over Epsilon, they have to play perfectly and disregard the assumption that Epsilon will win. Isurus must play better than they ever have before and find a chink in Epsilons armour. Only Paradigm has managed to take an advantage over Epsilon’s vulnerabilities.

Featured match up

Dimi vs N0wzer

Dimi and N0zwer both hold great potential for carrying from the solo lane. Their bold plays followed will be very interesting to watch. In addition, the synergy with their junglers will be compelling throughout the match’s laning phase.

Prediction

Epsilon Esports 90% – 10% Isurus Gaming

The Bet:

Epsilon represent huge overs at 1.30

Pain Gaming vs Oh My God B

Pain Gaming have been succeeding against their opponents, recently knocking out INTZ from the competition. Will they be able to continue their momentum going into SWC 2016? Their first match against OMG B will test Pain Gaming’s macro strategies as OMG B, playing from the region still in closed beta and behind in patches, will have a tough time adjusting to the changes and new gods playable at SWC that aren’t playable on their own client.

OMG B seem to have superior skill in mechanics and this is where they will be able to take leads. Outplaying the enemy in team fights is their strength and will be their saving grace from falling into the loser round.

Featured match up

Star vs SchultZen

Star and SchultZen both carry their teams with exceptional micro play. The 1v3 play by Star certainly drew attention to him but it will be great to see how SchultZen finds a counter to Star’s skills. While they will not be the only defining factor in their team’s victory but watching them duke it out in the mid lane will be very entertaining.

Prediction

Pain Gaming 65% – 35% Oh My God B

The Bet:

No Bet, prices look right.

Enemy vs Avant Garde

Avant have high expectations set for themselves and the interest of international viewers and experts. Their first match against Enemy is more favourable than Epsilon or Fnatic but will still prove a challenge. The odds are evened as Avant Garde’s coach, Job “CaptCoach” Hilbers, was previously the coach of Titan, the runner up at SWC 2015. His experience of World Championships will be of great value to Avant as this is the team’s first time to an international tournament and for some of them, first time out of Australia.

After a fantastic performance at Super Regionals, Enemy will find themselves in the hot seat of SWC against the undefeated team in Oceania. Enemy have had more competition in North America and more experience to bring into the match against AV, but will they be able to perform on the day? As history shows, yes they can.

Featured match up

PainDeViande vs Biggy

Both of these supports are the shotcallers, captains and leaders for their team. Biggy and PainDeViande will be playing not just a game of SMITE but a mind game reading each other’s movements and predicting strategies and counter measures. While their in-game skill will be spectacular to watch, the way they lead their teams will be what decides the outcome of this match.

Prediction

Enemy 55% – 45% Avant Garde

The Bet:

Avant Garde represent huge value at the $3.25

Fnatic vs Qiao Gu Reapers

Fnatic have more experience of top level play in the Smite patch that will be played during SWC 2016. Just like Epsilon vs Isurus, the downfall of QG will be their lack of experience. But once again their fierce playstyle may be the door to victory.

For Fnatic, their experience, superior macro play, judgement of fights and the ability to take objectives will serve as the catalyst to their victory. While this game may be easy to predict, there is no way of telling what surprises may occur on the day.

Featured match up

Realzx vs Master.lu

The two hunters are mechanical gods in their respective regions. Realzx brings a huge god pool to the table along with a tendency of destroying enemy hunters in 1v1 situations. Master.lu has been called the “Zapman of China” meaning he is an extraordinary Hunter and catches the attention of international pros. Watching these two remarkable hunters in the heat of the action will be a fantastic.

Prediction

Fnatic 85% – 15% Qiao Gu Reapers

The Bet:

Bet on Fnatic – This is huge overs.
