Starcraft 2 pro Polt called to fulfil military duty weeks before the $250,000 Blizzcon tournament.

One of the most popular SC2 players Polt has been called back for active military duty in Korea. The player was expected to win the Blizzcon global finals ($250).

Due to the length of the commitment required from Polt, he will be departing from the Envy organization. While his tenure on Envy was short, we were grateful for the opportunity to support him when we could. This also means Polt unfortunately will not be able to compete at Blizzcon. We ask that all the fans try to understand the position that Polt is in and to support him on his new journey.

Choi “Polt” Seong Hun, Professional Starcraft 2 Player:

“I have been really happy for the past 6 years. Playing StarCraft II and meeting a lot of people in the world gave me plenty of unforgettable memories. I have been able to make a great achievement and I appreciate all of the support from Andrew and Team EnVyUs. Unfortunately, the time has come to say goodbye. However, remember that every ending is a new beginning. I am looking forward to seeing you again soon.”

Mike “Hastr0” Rufail, Managing Director of Team EnVyUs:

“Today, our entire organization is saddened that Polt must depart from competitive play. Polt has been one of the most iconic and fiercest competitors throughout his career in electronic sports. He will be remembered as a champion. We know he will take that success into whatever the future holds for him and we hope to see Polt back in esports as soon as possible.”

Andrew Tomlinson, Longtime Manager of Polt:
“As someone who has worked alongside Polt for nearly 4 years, this news greatly saddens me. I was fortunate to be able to meet Polt at his first tournament victory in Korea and little did I know I would be apart of his journey. Polt has been a role model to this community and will continue to be; I look forward to seeing what Polt does next and will be there to support him when he returns.”
